Last week, during the #omhg chat on twitter (Thursdays, 1-2pm est), Zoe mentioned the phrase “Complacency = slow death”. She didn’t have time to do a print so she asked if anyone wanted to make one. I didn’t volunteer right away since I wasn’t sure what to do.
That evening, an idea started to form… What I wanted to do was incorporate my doodles with the quote. I’ve always been drawn to the Dia De Los Muertos skulls (I just love how colorful they are)! So I decided combine the quote with a skull doodle. After a few sketches (and staying up until 3 am), My idea started to take shape.
The picture below shows my usual creative process. I do an initial sketch, then I bring the image into illustrator and draw my design (I use a wacom tablet). After all the adjustments are done, I add the colors.
It was so much fun to work on this project! Feel free to join us on Thursdays (1pm est) on twitter for the awesome #omhg chats!
The print is available for you to download… Enjoy!
If the file doesn’t download right away:
