We’re all about Apple/Macs in our family. The first thing that we set up in our little guy’s room was his own iPod sound system… I know, we’re geeks! We don’t have cable or any gaming systems in our home, so we rely on our Apple tv, iPhones and iPad for not only music, but for audio/video podcasts and the seemingly millions of awesome apps available for download.
We have searched and found some great kid friendly apps that our toddler loves! Here’s three of our favorites:
- FirstWords ($1.99 to $4.99) by Learning Touch - You can purchase each word set – animals, vehicles, home, and Christmas (which is new) or you can buy FirstWords Deluxe (the whole set of over 100 words). More about FirstWords: “FirstWords: Deluxe also offers a range of options to grow with your child’s skill and abilities! Beautiful illustrations and entertaining sounds will keep your child engaged and delighted while they learn letters and words. If your child is old enough to ask for your phone, they’re old enough for FirstWords: Deluxe!”
Try the Free version. - Peekaboo Barn ($1.99) by nightanddaystudios - I really like this app! Super cute and so much fun! More about Peekaboo Barn: “Inside a little bouncing barn, friendly farm animals are waiting to pop out and surprise your little one. Try and guess who they are; tap the doors to find out!” Bonus: You can also set the language to Spanish.
Try the Free version. - Dr. Suess’s ABC ($3.99) by Oceanhouse Media – Perfect for teaching your toddlers their ABC’s! More about Dr. Suess’s ABC: “New features only available in this e-book include professional narration, background audio and enlarged artwork for each scene. To promote reading in young children, individual words are highlighted as the story is read and words zoom up when pictures are touched. By combining the original text and artwork of Dr. Seuss with features that entertain and promote reading, this e-book appeals to readers of all ages.”
I wish I had cool apps like these when I was growing up!
