The preschool age is a wonderful time to learn!  The iTunes app store has so many great educational apps that it can be overwhelming to try to find great apps for kids.  After searching and trying out a bunch of apps, we found some great ones that we absolutely love and meets our two major criteria – fun and educational!

  • Super Why ($2.99 for the iPhone/$3.99 for the iPad) –   “Help your child gain the power to read with Super Why, Alpha Pig, Princess Presto, and Wonder Red. Kids will come to the rescue in FOUR unique games using special powers such as alphabet skills, rhyming, spelling, comprehension and vocabulary.”  This app is one of our favorites!
  • Toddler 123 ($1.99 – limited time pricing) – It’s great for teaching the kids their numbers.  The illustrations are fun and there’s a bunch of activities for them to do – like tracing their numbers and more!
  • Nick Jr.’s ABC ($1.99) – “The alphabet is here, from A to Zee! Join Moose and Zee on a puzzle-packed adventure with loads of letters. In this game, preschoolers search for letters hidden in exciting scenes like at the beach, on the street, and even in the deep seas! Moose will introduce your little letter-finder to the entire alphabet, capital and lowercase letters, in 26 different pictures. Get set for a stupendous time!”  This app is great for helping the little ones recognize and find the alphabet letters.
  • Intro to Letters ($4.99) – “Based on the Montessori activity known as Sand Paper Letters, these activities utilize sight, sound and touch to help your child learn the letters, while also learning the correct method of creating them.”  I really like this app because it teaches the letters and their sounds.  It has 5 different activities for the kids to try.
  • My Very First App ($1.99) –  “This fun educational app has three matching games based on Eric Carle’s classic best-selling My Very First Books, designed specifically for the iPhone and iPad.”  I’ve mentioned this one before, but I love Eric Carle books!  This app has great illustrations and it’s wonderful tool for learning colors.

Check these cool apps out when you get a chance! Also, I would love to hear some great ones that you’ve found too, so leave me a comment!
